Calgary Herald: Pacific Sky Set to Become World Training Hub for Twin Otters
January 6, 2018
Pacific Sky Aviation’s new de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter flight simulator in Calgary, Alta. is the only such Twin Otter simulator in the world.
From the gentle rocking of a seaplane floating on a remote northern Alberta lake to the feel of a dirt strip in the middle of nowhere, countless hours of programming and refinement went into giving the simulator the ability to replicate the real world.
It’s that level of realism that prompted Transport Canada to grant Pacific Sky’s simulator their highest-possible qualification, which means training time spent within the simulator is counted no differently than real-world flying.
With similar accreditation sessions planned with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, the European Aviation Safety Agency and the Civil Aviation Administration of China, Calgary is soon to become a worldwide destination for Twin Otter training and certification.
